PictureSeoyoen Min, cellist
Seoyoen Min

The current principal cellist of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Seoyoen Min is rapidly gaining recognition in the orchestral world
for her “naturally expressive and fiery musicality.” She has collaborated with notable musical figures and associations, most recently at the Grand Teton Music Festival, the Korean Symphony Orchestra, as well as with the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra where she was featured as soloist in the Friedrich Gulda Cello Concerto. As a native of South Korea, she has made multiple international appearances, both in performance and competition, among these including the 2018 George Enescu Competition, the Strad Music Competition, the Seoul Soloists Cello Ensemble Competition, the Music Association of Korea Competition, as well as the Segye Times Competition where she won first prize. In 2016, Seoyoen gave her debut recital in Youngsan Art Hall in Seoul where she was selected for the Young Artist of Youngsan Debut Concert Series. Min has also performed in numerous concerts as a soloist with the Seoul National University Symphony Orchestra, the Seoul Academy Ensemble, the Seoul Soloists Cello Ensemble and OZ Ensemble. A new music devotee, Seoyoen was a member of one of South Korea’s emerging contemporary ensembles.

A passionate supporter of chamber music, Seoyoen has performed with renown violinist, Kyung Sun Lee in the Virtuosi Seoul Ensemble and is a founding member of the Edith String Quartet. In the Colorado musical community, she is a regular, featured performer of Englewood Arts both in solo and chamber music.

Past mentors include renowned musical figures such as Lynn Harrell, Gary Hoffman, Xenia Jankovic, Peter Bruns, and Tilmann Wick. She received her master’s degree in cello performance at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music under the tutelage of Hans Jørgen Jensen and completed a bachelor of music degree from Seoul National University.
