The career of Connie Carson, Ph.D., spans three areas of healthcare:  rehabilitation, transplant medicine, and oncology.  Beginning as a speech-language pathologist at Craig Hospital, she later pursued a doctorate at the University of Denver in Human Communication. After completion of that degree, she worked in transplant medicine where she designed and taught seminars which addressed the skills needed by organ and tissue recovery coordinators to offer the option of organ and tissue donation to grieving families.  Later, she has acted as a healthcare consultant and website content author to the oncology division of one of our nation’s leading providers of healthcare. During that 14-year tenure, she authored ten books and numerous articles on cancer and the importance of exercise as a vital treatment option. The third edition of her book, Fitness for Cancer Patients, is available on Amazon.  Her most recent chapter, “Communication Strategies in the Multigenerational Workforce,” in the textbook 21st Century Nursing Leadership, (2018) , edited by Mary Magee Gullatte, Ph.D., RN, ANP-BC, AOCN, FAAN was published by ONS Publications Department, Oncology Nursing Society. It was named the Book of the Year by the American Journal of Nursing.

 Her volunteer activities are extensive.  For over a decade, she served as the President of the Board of Directors for Colorado Wild Women, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women of all fitness levels train for triathlon events (teamcww.org).  For 14 years she has led a stroke communication group for patients and their family members at Littleton Adventist Hospital. For fifteen years, Dr. Carson hosted Feisty Fit Females, a support group for women cancer survivors (feistyfitfemales.org). She’s also on the boards of Epoch, the non-profit entity of Oncology Rehab and Love Sweat and Gears, an organization that helps people complete the RAM, a ride to bike across America.  Most recently, she joined the Board of Directors of St. Rita’s foundation, an organization dedicated to providing medical and educational support to children in who are victims of war, primarily in Syria (www.strita.care).  She has no musical aptitude and is struggling to learn how to play the harmonica.
