
Raven Underwood, violinist
Raven is a Colorado-native violinist and Suzuki educator. She holds teaching positions at Primavera Place Suzuki School and Denver Community Music Academy at Denver School of the Arts. In addition, Raven has a private studio of 25 young violinists. Currently working with Dr. Chappell Kingsland, Raven performs his arrangements of virtuosic Pop and Rock music regionally with the group Electric Athena.
As an advocate of performing more works by women composers, Raven conducted a two-year research project to unearth and expose composers of solo repertoire to add to the violin canon. She presented her findings in relation to the graded Suzuki repertoire at the 2017 Women In Music Denver Symposium. Raven holds a Bachelor degree in violin performance, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Suzuki pedagogy from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver.
